Approach
Assessment can be a scary, unfamiliar process for children and families alike. My goal is to connect with children and families where they are and build comfort and confidence in the assessment process. I create a safe space where children and families can express themselves safely, ask questions free from judgement, and work towards identifying and addressing the areas of challenge in their lives. I encourage all individuals to be their authentic selves in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Through collaborative, comprehensive, and accurate assessment of mental health and/or academic problems, we can develop specific recommendations and an individualized plan to support you or your child. I work to fully understand your concerns and recognize your family system's unique experiences, strengths and challenges.
Education and Experience
After a short time away, I am enjoying establishing my long-term home in the beautiful Ottawa Valley community alongside my wife and growing family. I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology, neuroscience, and behaviour at McMaster University. Then I completed a post-graduate certification in communication disorders at Georgian College, followed by a psychometrics qualification through Yorkville University. I have always been passionate about creating the building blocks for mental health and wellness at home. I advocate for how psychological assessment can be a crucial step toward better understanding your child’s unique strengths and needs.
Throughout my career, I have worked with children and youth in a variety of settings and have enjoyed supporting youth from all walks of life, including various ethnic backgrounds, sexual and gender identities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and developmental histories, as well as disabled and neurodivergent individuals. I have enjoyed working in an interdisciplinary community mental health service environment as well as in the school system.
As a Psychometrist, I previously worked for five years with a lead agency for child and youth mental health in Ontario, supporting their Psychology Team and Autism Diagnostic Services. I also worked as a Communication Disorders Assistant for six years with a local school board. I enjoyed supporting children and youth in developing communication skills to aid in accessing the curriculum. I joined the wonderful team at Pembroke Psychological Services in 2022. Here, I work collaboratively with Dr. Len Gignac and Dr. Alisha Henson to provide comprehensive psychological assessments to children and youth and support youth and their families in working towards wellness.
