Approach

Therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space that promotes understanding and change. I believe in a collaborative, person-centered approach that addresses the unique experiences, strengths and needs of an individual.

I take an integrative, compassionate approach to therapy blending elements from various treatment modalities to create a personalized and effective experience. Some of the primary evidence-based modalities I use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I also believe in promoting wellness and balance through strengthening our mind, body and soul connection.

Education and Experience

I was born and raised in Renfrew County. I completed my Bachelor of Social Work at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 1987 and then completed my Master of Social Work at McGill University in 2002.

I worked for 37 years with the Phoenix Centre for Children and Families as a Family and Child Therapist (1987-2002), Clinical Manager (2002-2016) and Clinical Director (2016-2024). The Phoenix Centre provided me with extensive experience and knowledge working with children, youth and families.  I have specialized in trauma for most of my career providing therapy, as well as providing supervision and consultation to staff and community partners.
