Approach

At times it can be hard to navigate the many challenges and stressors of everyday life. My goal is to provide my clients with a safe space to process life's many challenges and to develop the skills needed to cope and achieve their desired goals. I strive to provide my clients with a non-judgemental, caring, and compassionate space whereby clients feel validated, respected, supported, and empowered to overcome challenging life experiences and circumstances. My role as a therapist is to collaborate with my clients and to honour the wisdom and insight that my clients bring to their own lives, as I firmly believe that we are all experts in our own lives and, at times, may need guidance to reach the potential we are striving to obtain.

I use evidenced-based modalities to deliver an integrative and individualized therapeutic approach. In doing so, I strive to address the individual needs of my clients. I draw from several evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Trauma-focused Therapy (TF), Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).

I am experienced in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, behavioural challenges, parenting concerns, self-harm, relationship difficulties, school difficulties, and family conflict. Likewise, I am also well-versed in the needs, challenges, and uniqueness of the military community.

Education and Experience

I moved to the Ottawa Valley 13 years ago, and since moving to the Ottawa valley, I have fallen in love with the community and everything that the valley offers. I completed my undergrad in Psychology at McEwan University in Edmonton, AB and I completed my Masters in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University of Frederickton, NB. I am registered with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario.

For the last 13 years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals, children, families, teens, and high-risk youth within various clinical, community, and educational settings. Working within a variety of clientele and within different community settings has broadened my knowledge and provided me with invaluable experience and insight.

Presently, I work at the Phoenix centre for children and families as a child and family therapist. My work at the Phoenix centre has allowed me to work on an interdisciplinary team, which has been an extremely valuable experience. It has allowed me to learn from my peers and collaborate with various community agencies and stakeholders.

As a registered psychotherapist, I provide therapy for a wide variety of concerns, including (but not limited to): anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, behavioural challenges, parenting concerns, self-harm, relationship difficulties, school difficulties, and family conflict.
